Well my iPhone 5 gave up the ghost this morning after I had poured replacement parts and money into it for the last 7 months, and once again, I am in the market for a new phone. I am thinking the iPhone SE, because I am not a huge fan of the massive screens. Any Oppos have the SE, or other thoughts? Because my house is an “Apple House” and I own a 13" MacBook air, the phone would have to be an Apple product.

I’m trying to keep my current phone on life support long enough to get an iPhone SE. I love the form factor of the 5 and the updated camera goodies from the 6 would be amazing in a phone that size (slow mo camera is the biggest draw to the iPhone for me)

Sorry to hear that. My wife’s home button gave out, and she’s surviving on the virtual button provided by the system for assisted access. The SE sounds like it is pretty comparable to the 5, but with some improvements. I’d probably get am 6 because it’s not too much bigger, but it is more expensive. Maybe a refurbished model to save some $$?

I own an S6 and it works better with my Mac than my 5s did.

I’ve got a 6S, but if I were buying now I would go with the SE. Same phone smaller size.

I’ve got a 6 (in an Otterbox Defender, so it’s big) and could never go back to the small screen of the 5 or the SE. But it’s all personal preference, ergonomics, and hand size. I do, however, LOVE the squared edges of the 5 and the SE. I do not like the rounded edges of most of the other iPhones. But YMMV there based on the case you choose. My vote is an older 6 with extra memory, like 32GB.

I went from a 5s to a 6s a couple months ago and I don’t even notice the size difference anymore. It felt big at first, but I got used to it quick [thatswhatshessaid].

The iPhone SE is like the iPhone 6S for someone who doesn’t want a phone that’s just barely fit in one’s hand...so at that thought, I’d say get it.

I’d go for the SE if that’s what you want. They made enough changes to it (better pixel density, better camera etc) so that it’s literally a pocket sized 6S. :)

My girl just got the SE and gave her 5S to her mom, she loves her SE.

I JUST switched from a 5S to an SE last week. Still have the 5S (its for Sprint - all factory, for sale if you want!) Love the size of the SE with ALMOST all of the same features are the 6S. Selfie cam is different, no pressure sensitive touchscreen, and a couple other real small differences. Also, upgrade from the 5S on sprint was only $50 for a 64gb SE with a 2 year contract. Kept my old phone and the SE is mine too so not a bad deal!
If you are interested in my old 5S shoot me an email. W Low 636 at G Mail

In related news, I’m having the hardest time deciding between a Lumia 950 and an iPhone 6s.

How does size compare between the 5S and the SE? Is it exactly the same, or is one slightly larger?

They are the EXACT same size. In fact, all of the cases for the 5 and 5S will fit the SE and vice versa. They literally look identical unless you can see the badges on the back of the phones.

Praise glob. That's exactly what I want

It essentially has the 6S internals with some small changes. For example, my home screen won’t move at all when you turn the phone sideways (landscape mode vs portrait mode) and my girlfriend’s 6Plus does. Supposedly the 6S has a touch sensitive screen that does different things based on how hard you touch. The SE does not have that. Pretty small things but for me, the SE was the way to go.

Wife went from a 5S to an SE. No issues so far. Verizon gave her half off on the SE when she traded in her 5S.

I’d like to get an SE to replace my 6, but the SE is limited to 64GB max, and my 6 is 128GB, and I only have 14.4GB free since I have my whole MP3 collection on it

Yeah, I was planning on keeping my 5S forever because it’s the perfect size and I don’t want to go any bigger (the 5S actually “mounts” into the storage chubby on my dash so I don't need to stick it to the windshield when I'm using it to navigate, which is fantastic). But if I can get the same phone with more speed and more storage...

I, too, love the form factor of the 5/5S/SE.
I’ve got a 5S and was due for for a replacement when the 6S came out, but wasn’t sold on the design. At this point, probably going to ride out the 5S until I really need or want to upgrade, and may go with the SE. We’ll see what they have in store with the 7.

Oh yea. I like the one hand usage of the 5/5S/SE. My 5S only had around 12gb of usage storage space so a couple apps and photos over a year and a half and you’re basically out of space :( The SE can go as large as 64gb and the 6/6S can go up to 128gb.

I have the 6s plus. It’s huge and took a little while to get used to coming from a 5s. The bigger screen is amazing though. It makes running my business easier because email and texts are so much easier to read and respond. When I pick up my gf’s 5s now I find myself squinting or holding the phone closer to my face.

I’ve got “32 gb” (actually 26.3) and I have to monitor and compromise constantly. 64 would be a godsend

So, just to offer an opinion of the 6S... We made the switch from the 5S, which I wanted to keep forever and ever, to the 6S in December. The larger screen was a little weird and cumbersome at first (I dropped it a lot for a few day. I’ve only dropped my other phones a few times; never once broken a screen.), but I quickly grew to love it. I don’t think I could go back to a smaller screen, nor would I want anything bigger.
Go play with one in a store for a while and see how it feels. It might not be for you, but you might love it.

Last year I stepped up to the 6s from my old 5s. The extra screen size is really nice when you’re using it, though it does make it more cumbersome to put in your pocket. That said, I like it a lot better than the 5s. I have an Apple silicone case on mine and it adds enough protection but doesn’t add too much bulk.
The force touch / 3d touch sounded like a huge gimmick, but having it I would never go back. The live pictures are seriously cool, even if you can only conveniently see them on an Apple device that supports 3d touch. It is also really handy for getting into apps quickly and adding some quick shortcuts. There aren’t a ton of apps utilizing it yet, but as time goes on more and more will allow cool stuff using 3d touch.
My $0.02 is that the 6s is actually worth the compromise of going to a bigger footprint. That said I’m sure the SE is an excellent phone and if you’re really hung up on keeping the smaller size is probably the better choice for you. I personally can’t give up 3d touch, and wouldn’t want to go back to the smaller screen when I’m actually using the phone. When it is in my pocket I do wish it were a smaller phone though.
